SDL EQ Enrichment Center

SDL Academy of Novi is located in Novi, Michigan serving Novi residents and students in providing enrichment opportunities supplemental to school learning in reading, writing, math, science, foreign languages – Korean, Spanish – music and art.  By enrichment, we mean enough practices to mastery level.

SDL Academy uses Self-Learning method to help students learn how to learn.  At SDL, we believe that children possess unlimited potential and innate ability to realize all their dreams.  In fact, research has shown that through self-learning, a child’s natural talents and abilities to undertake increasingly difficult challenges are revealed.  It follow then that the more children are able to accomplish, the more they will wish to accomplish.  SDL Academy is here to help develop that potential, providing students with the skills they need to master a subject while instilling in them a life-long desire to learn and discover.

Director, Elizabeth Yoon is well equipped with over 15years of experience in both project management and engineering. She holds a Mechanical Engineering degree with minor in Cellular & Molecular Biology from University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.  She has been tutoring all through middle, high school and college to peer students. 

There has been in an increasing pressure from communities to raise the standard of education.  Even the politicians are using this as a platform to win their race.  The race for the higher education is on.

Public schools are trying to raise their standards, but can not succeed without parent’s involvement.  Parents are no longer passive on the status of their children’s education.  The parents have taken an active role of searching for any supplemental education to challenge their children.

It is critical to build a strong foundation in academics in the early years of schooling to be successful in high school, college and beyond.  The increase in difficulty from elementary to middle to high school is significant.

SDL Academy offers the exact learning style that any parent would want –Learning How to Learn.  SDL coaches students in developing self-learning skills in reading, writing and math, which are the most essential subjects in a life time of learning.  SDL recommends lower elementary to upper elementary students to start building a firm foundation and start enjoying learning before they get to middle and high schools where the new concepts are introduced at a quicker pace.

Only a solid foundation early on can help prevent frustration later on.  A solid foundation built early on gives children the confidence that one can learn, master and excel.  The faith in themselves will stimulate many students into areas of study where they would not have had interested in.  This is a huge profit for the society as a whole.
